GoldenPass Express redefines the travel experience
The GoldenPass Express provides a seamless and even more comfortable travel experience between Interlaken and Montreux.
The new panoramic train is operated by the Montreux-Berner Oberland Railway (MOB). It connects two popular destinations up to four times a day while offering uninterrupted views of the breathtaking panorama.
In collaboration with Zurich-based film agency Inbound, Swiss Travel System created a short film to celebrate the launch of this new train line connecting Interlaken with Montreux as of December 2022.
The key visual for the Swiss Travel System Map 2023 was also shot on the same day and depicts the new train in Schoenried in the Bernese Oberland.
Lots of prestige and culinary delicacies
The new Prestige Class is the centrepiece of the new train. The exclusive travel class offers discerning travellers everything they expect from an unforgettable train journey: plenty of privacy, maximum comfort in a small compartment, and an exceptional culinary offering. The Prestige Class is offered in addition to a 1st and 2nd class.
When a vision becomes reality
Plans to offer a seamless connection on this route have existed for over a hundred years. Thanks to a world first, this dream is finally becoming a reality. Thanks to adjustable bogies, the train can adapt to the changing track width on this route within a few seconds. Therefore, changing trains in Zweisimmen is no longer necessary.
Travel included with the Swiss Travel Pass
Naturally, trips onboard the new GoldenPass Express are covered by the Swiss Travel Pass in the selected travel class.
However, it does not include the mandatory seat reservation fee of CHF 34 in Prestige Class, which must be paid separately. Reservations are not required for travel in 1st and 2nd class but are highly recommended.
