After a reconstruction phase, the cable car from “Kräbel” to “Rigi Scheidegg” will be reopening on December 23, 2017.

The cable car has been under reconstruction this summer. Newly 100% integrated in the Swiss Travel Pass, it offers an additional attraction on Mt. Rigi – especially for travellers looking for an experience off the beaten track or for families with their children and for hikers.

From Arth-Goldau, guests hop on the Mt. Rigi cogwheel train up to the second stop, the station “Kräbel”. From there, they can change into the new cable car leaving to “Rigi Scheidegg”.

A funicular in Central Switzerland beats the world record: The new Stoos Railway with a gradient of 110‰ is the steepest in the world – not to mention 100% included in the Swiss Travel Pass.

On 17 December 2017 the world’s steepest funicular officially entered into operation. The railway allows a year-round connection from the valley direct to the heart of the mountain village Stoos in the Canton of Schwyz – and therefore right to the slopes. The funicular represents the essence of innovation.

Thanks to automatic level compensation, passengers stand on completely level ground at all times. The horizontal entrance and exit points at the stations are perfect for buggies, wheelchairs and luggage transport. The unique experience of riding the new Stoos Railway is fully covered by the Swiss Travel Pass.

Between 2018 and 2022, important adjustments in the infrastructure and rolling stock of the Montreux-Berner Oberland-Bahn (MOB) are carried out.

Renovation GoldenPass MOB Panoramic VIP
It will result in a change of wagon material between Zweisimmen and Montreux. The GoldenPass MOB composition with VIP seats will be taken out of operation on 3 September 2018 and completely renewed.

The renovation will be completed in the course of 2019. No definite date for its re-employment has yet been determined, but it will certainly happen in 2019. During the entire renovation period of the VIP Panoramic, a regular GoldenPass MOB Panoramic with panoramic coaches in 1st and 2nd class will be deployed.

Renovation GoldenPass Classic
The Golden Pass Classic with its recreated Belle-Époque coaches will be revised from 08 January to 29 June 2018. Starting 30 June, the three salon coaches will be put back into service. The name of the train composition will be changed to GoldenPass MOB Belle Époque. The renovation of the fourth Belle Époque coach with the wine cellar design will be more comprehensive. This coach will be ready for service by the end of July. During the renovation time, a scheduled train with conventional wagon material operates on the course.

Please find information to further adjustments at the MOB routes in the attachment.
