International trains: New developments in 2022

From Munich or Amsterdam to Switzerland by train: fast, comfortable and climate-friendly. This will get even more attractive in 2022 – thanks to shortened travel times and a new night connection. In addition, new direct connections between Italy and Switzerland offer even more travel comfort.

Bologna/Genoa–Zurich

New daily direct connections between Bologna and Zurich (6h) as well as Genoa and Zurich (5 h 20 min) will be established. The planned introduction of a night train to Rome will be postponed until at least 2023.

Munich–Zurich

From December 2021, train passengers travelling from Munich are only 3 hours and 30 minutes away from Zurich. For half of the connections between Zurich and Munich, the travel time will be reduced by half an hour. It is expected that all EuroCity trains will cover the distance in 3 hours and 30 minutes by spring 2022.

Amsterdam–Zurich

Starting in 2022, SBB in cooperation with OeBB will offer a daily Nightjet connection with couchettes and sleepers from Zurich via Basel SBB and Cologne to Amsterdam. The train leaves Zurich at 21.59 every night and arrives at Amsterdam at 9.00 a.m. the next morning. Thanks to these night trains, guests save accommodation expenses and travel particularly climate-friendly.
