Bernina Express also starting from Landquart

Bernina Express auf der Alp Grüm

As of 11 May 2019, the Bernina Express adds the stretch from Landquart via Davos to its journey towards the Val Poschiavo and Tirano (IT). The passage through the Prättigau Valley extends the delightful ride by roughly 45 kilometres. Between Davos and Filisur, the Bernina Express crosses the highest bridge of the Rhaetian Railway, the Wiesner Viaduct.

The journey starts on the stretch that originally was the first part of the Rhaetian Railway. It was opened in 1889 and leads from Landquart to Klosters. Afterwards, the Bernina Express climbs up the Wolfgang Pass and heads for the Landwasser Valley. At Davos Platz station, an open panorama coach is added to the train composition. Here, visitors get the chance to experience the countryside of Grisons even more intensely while feeling the airstream on their faces.

It takes the Bernina Express roughly five hours to get from Landquart to Tirano. Thanks to the cooperation with the Ristorane Alp Grüm, travellers can enjoy homemade Pizzoccheri, a speciality from the Canton of Grisons, at the Bernina Pass.
