Within Switzerland, bicycles can be taken along on many SBB trains and private railways as well as PostBuses (valid ticket required).
The respective coaches and buses are marked with a cycle pictogram. In the SBB online timetable under “Advanced Search” the option “Carriage of bicycles required (Switzerland only)” can be selected, which shows all connections where individual bicycle transport is possible.
On some train connections, individual bicycle transport is subject to reservation surcharge. From 21 March to 31 October, a reservation for bicycle transportation is required on all InterCity trains (IC) that travel through the Gotthard Base Tunnel. The reservation can be made at the station or via SBB mobile app or sbb.ch up to five minutes before departure. The reservation surcharge is CHF 5 per bike.
- Normal fare day ticket CHF 20, with Half Fare Card or Swiss Travel System ticket CHF 13
- For children with a Junior Card accompanied by at least one parent with a valid ticket, bike transport is free of charge
